Flag: Sark Emoji 🇨🇶

What 🇨🇶 means

The flag of Sark: a white field with a red St George's cross, and in the upper hoist canton, two golden Normandy lions on red. The 🇨🇶 Flag: Sark emoji represents the tiny Channel Island of Sark — population around 500, famously car-free, and one of the world's first designated Dark Sky Islands.

Sark was the only addition to the flags category in Emoji 16.0 (September 2024), arriving after the island received its own ISO country code (CQ). As with all flag emojis, what you see varies by platform — some render the flag itself, others show the letters CQ.

How and when to use it

  • Travel posts from the Channel Islands, obviously: "No cars, no streetlights, just cliffs and stars 🇨🇶 Sark is unreal."
  • Great for stargazing and dark-sky content — Sark's night skies are protected: "Bucket list: seeing the Milky Way from a Dark Sky Island 🇨🇶✨"
  • And for trivia lovers: it's the newest flag on the emoji keyboard — a fun flex in any geography thread.
