Flip Paraguay's flag over and the design changes: the obverse carries a coat of arms, a yellow star wreathed in olive branches, while the reverse shows a treasury seal, a lion guarding a red liberty cap under the words 'Paz y Justicia.' No other national flag does this. The red, white and blue bands themselves were inspired by the French tricolor, adopted in 1842.
