Everything is a science, believe it or not. Everything including religion and spirituality counts as a science. Very ironic, actually. Humans, animals, trees, the earth, the solar system, and all the intricate parts of existence, is science working in different ways. When we say ‘science’, it’s not THE science. We’re not referring to the textbook subject, but to the base of possibilities and proofs that govern and power every individual aspect.
Nonetheless, this blog post is not here to be an expansive coverage of all science emojis (which would include all emojis, tbh). It’s a collection of “science emojis” that are representative of different sciences. Confused? Read on to know what we mean!
Most of us reading this have drawn/sketched/labeled parts of this scientific equipment at least once in our lives. Somewhere in the distant past, at least.
The ⚗️ Alembic emoji symbolizes the iconic “round-bottom flask”. It’s where all the distillation happens in a chemistry lab. Thus making ⚗️ a symbol for chemistry, the lab, and all to do with this branch of science.
The alembic can work outside the lab too. If you’re talking about distillation or the act of condensing something down to its vital components, then this emoji would be the nerdy way forward.
Test tubes are one of the versatile science apparatuses. They don’t bleed too far from home, but they are mentioned in contexts other than science. When was the last time you had your shot of a test tube drink?!
Like the alembic, test tubes too are mostly used in the chemistry lab. They help mix up chemicals and hopefully create some chemistry between them. See, 🧪 can work for both science and “not-so-science”. Maybe, it’s all the same.
The whole purpose of the petri dish is to contain different but minute forms of life and constructively manipulate them. No, not gaslighting. 🧫 is often used by biologists for “cultural” reasons (puns totally intended). Going by the usage, this emoji efficiently represents biology, but only the microscopic part of biology. We live in a massive world.
Now here’s something that’s super inclusive. Super relatable, too. We all host our own range of DNA, where “we” means all living things, and not just humans. Quit being so narcissistic!
🧬 resembles all of us to certain extent because it’s one of the most basic and essential components of life. Hence, this emoji symbolizes genes and the genetics branch of biology. It could also be a quirky representation of inheritance, heredity, and “family line”.
If there are microscopic things that exist, we gotta take a look at them! Poof! Microscopes were invented. Say what you want but, 🔬 is one of the coolest inventions of all time. You could observe anything under this! Since the criterion calls for things invisible to the naked eye, it would be a saving grace for red flags 🙂.
Remember we mentioned the earth and the solar system in the introduction? 🔭 represents that part of science, known as astronomy or just the cosmos for short. This equipment’s used for those kinds of invisible things. It’s baffling how limited our vision actually is!
We use telescopes to observe stars, the movement of “heavenly bodies” (talk about ironies) like asteroids and meteors, and well, what your partner’s thinking all night. 🔭 pretty much sees through darkness and captures those bits of magnificence in thin air.
Then we get asked about trust issues.
Everything about human existence is a science. Including TV, WiFi, Radio, and all aspects of technology. We surely can’t live without two of the most important satellites; the one that’s on the roof and the moon. Yep, the moon is our natural satellite.
Though this emoji is categorized under the “Air Travel” section of the Unicode list, we’d like to include it here. These satellites are a lot more technologically advanced than the previous emoji.
Sure, the satellite antenna gives us HD but 🛰️ is the reason why we have all the luxuries we do. Weather forecasts, communication, “reading the earth’s radar”, checking the movement of things in space, and essentially reporting for and to the earth are just a few.
Now, that’s helluva science right there!
If you’re looking for the right “science emojis” to seal the deal on any online platform, we hope these emojis and their scientific paths inspire and aid in representing the field on the whole.
