Six colors converge into a horizontal Y on South Africa's flag: red and blue bands meet a green band that splits and runs to the corners, read as different paths joining into one. Fred Brownell designed it for the 1994 election that ended apartheid, and it remains one of the few flags built from six colors with no coat of arms.

A rectangular flag with a horizontally laid 'Y', in green, bordered by a white stripe below and yellow above. The small 'V' portion succeeding the yellow stripe is black. The upper portion from the 'Y' is red, while the lower is deep blue.
The 🇿🇦 Flag: South Africa emoji refers to the Republic of South Africa or RSA, Africa's southernmost country. Colloquially known as just South Africa, this country has 'ZA' as its code. This code appears in place of this flag emoji on platforms that don't support the latter.
