Guess the movie by emoji

I've been staring at these until the emoji stopped meaning anything, which is usually the sign a riddle is ready. Twenty movies, each boiled down to three or four characters and nothing else β€” no taglines, no cast photos, no cheating. The first five are gimmes to get you warmed up. By the back half I stopped being nice. Tap any riddle to flip it over; the answer comes with one line of commentary, because a bare title felt like a wasted opportunity.

Round one: gimmes (1–5)

1. πŸš’πŸ§ŠπŸ’”

Titanic β€” Yes, there was room on that door. We've all seen the physics threads.

2. πŸ¦ˆπŸ–οΈπŸš€

Jaws β€” You're going to need a bigger boat, and possibly a smaller ocean.

3. β„οΈπŸ‘β›„

Frozen β€” One sister weaponizes the weather and somehow she's the wholesome one.

4. πŸ πŸ”πŸŒŠ

Finding Nemo β€” A father crosses an entire ocean because a school field trip went sideways.

5. πŸ¦πŸ‘‘πŸŒ…

The Lion King β€” A meerkat and a warthog raised a king on a diet of bugs. Somehow it worked.

Round two: it gets real (6–14)

6. πŸ¦–πŸ§¬β›ˆοΈ

Jurassic Park β€” Cloning apex predators during a tropical storm turns out to be a scheduling error.

7. πŸ πŸ§’πŸŽ„

Home Alone β€” An eight-year-old defends a house better than most actual security systems.

8. πŸš—β°βš‘

Back to the Future β€” 88 miles an hour and a flux capacitor solve problems therapy usually handles.

9. πŸ‘½πŸš²πŸŒ•

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial β€” A stranded alien learns Reese’s Pieces before he learns English. Priorities.

10. πŸŒͺοΈπŸ‘ πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ

The Wizard of Oz β€” The whole journey was solvable with shoes she was already wearing.

11. πŸ₯ŠπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ†

Rocky β€” He doesn't even need to win, just still be standing. Very Philadelphia way to define victory.

12. πŸ€ πŸ§‘β€πŸš€πŸ§Έ

Toy Story β€” A cowboy and a spaceman have an ego standoff, and the kid never once notices the toys are alive.

13. πŸ’ŠπŸ•ΆοΈπŸ‡

The Matrix β€” One pill shows you the truth, the other lets you keep pretending, and people still argue which one they’d take.

14. πŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒπŸš™

Grease β€” A leather jacket and a hydraulic car fix what a whole summer romance couldn't.

Round three: no mercy (15–20)

15. πŸ‘πŸ¦‹πŸ€

The Silence of the Lambs β€” A trainee agent trades secrets with the most polite cannibal in cinema.

16. πŸ§ΌπŸ‘ŠπŸŽ

Fight Club β€” The first rule is famous specifically because everyone breaks it in the first act.

17. πŸͺ™πŸ€ πŸ”«

No Country for Old Men β€” A coin flip decides your fate and the guy holding it never even raises his voice.

18. πŸ›’οΈβ›οΈπŸ©Έ

There Will Be Blood β€” He drinks your milkshake, and somehow that line survived becoming a meme completely intact.

19. πŸ₯πŸŽΌπŸ©Έ

Whiplash β€” A drum teacher's idea of encouragement draws actual blood, and the kid thanks him for it.

20. πŸ’ΌπŸ•ΊπŸ”

Pulp Fiction β€” Nobody tells this story in order, and it's still the most rewatchable one on the list.
