Guess the book by emoji

Same format as the movie and country riddles, aimed at a bookshelf instead of a screen. Twenty books, each boiled down to three or four emoji and nothing else — no cover art, no character names, no cheating. Round one is a warm-up lap for anyone who's opened a book since middle school. Round three gets properly literary. Tap any riddle to flip it over; the answer comes with one line of commentary, because a bare title felt like a wasted opportunity.

Round one: gimmes (1–5)

1. ⚡🧙📓

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone — A lightning-bolt scar, a wizard with questionable fashion sense, and a notebook that writes back — Hogwarts admissions in three symbols.

2. 🕷️🐷🚜

Charlotte's Web — A spider, a pig, and a tractor — friendship goals for anyone who has ever needed a barn lawyer.

3. 🐛🍎🦋

The Very Hungry Caterpillar — A caterpillar eats its way through an entire produce aisle and comes out the other side with wings — best diet story in children's literature.

4. 🐰🕳️🎩

Alice in Wonderland — A rabbit is running late, a hole goes nowhere sensible, and a hat comes with a tea party — nobody asked for any of it.

5. 🌪️👠🦁

The Wizard of Oz — A twister relocates an entire house, a pair of shoes solves every problem, and a lion just needed a pep talk.

Round two: it gets real (6–14)

6. 🐋⛵🎣

Moby-Dick — A whale, a ship, and a fishing trip that turns into five hundred pages of one captain's grudge.

7. 🥂🟢🎩

The Great Gatsby — Champagne, a mysterious green light across the bay, and a hat that has seen better decades. Old money, older problems.

8. 👗💃💍

Pride and Prejudice — A dress, a ballroom, and a ring nobody will just ask for outright. Regency England, never change.

9. 🦁🚪❄️

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe — A lion, a suspiciously large closet, and a winter that refuses to leave. Narnia's HOA has some explaining to do.

10. 🧚🐊⏰

Peter Pan — A fairy with anger issues, a crocodile running late, and a clock that never stops ticking toward trouble.

11. 🏹🔥🕊️

The Hunger Games — A bow, a girl who is suddenly on fire, and a bird that becomes an entire political movement.

12. ⚡🧟🔬

Frankenstein — Lightning, a science experiment that gets up and walks, and a microscope that absolutely saw this coming.

13. 🦇🩸🏰

Dracula — A bat, a blood drop, and a castle with genuinely terrible curb appeal after dark.

14. 🌹🐑🪐

The Little Prince — A rose with an ego, a sheep drawn on request, and a planet so small he can watch the sunset forty-four times a day.

Round three: no mercy (15–20)

15. 💍🌋🧝

Lord of the Rings — A ring nobody should have kept, a volcano with one very specific delivery address, and an elf who has been alive since possibly forever.

16. 👴🎣🐟

The Old Man and the Sea — An old man, a fishing line, and a fish that turns one afternoon into a full existential crisis.

17. 🦋🌧️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

One Hundred Years of Solitude — Yellow butterflies, four straight years of rain, and a family tree so tangled even the author needed a chart.

18. 👴🐴🛡️

Don Quixote — An old man, a tired horse, and a shield raised for battles that exist only in his head.

19. 🪳🛏️😱

The Metamorphosis — A man wakes up as a giant bug, and the scream from the next room says it best.

20. 💃⚔️❄️

War and Peace — A ballroom, a battlefield, and a Russian winter that has ended more campaigns than any general.

Still want more

That's the whole shelf — hopefully more of it stuck than the group chat will admit. Riddles not the vibe today? The full emoji quiz hub has streaks, a mystery emoji, and an arcade wing that never runs out. Or drop into The Daily Five for today's five-round test — new puzzle at midnight UTC, no account required, no mercy there either.
