Nepal is the only country on Earth whose national flag isn't a rectangle: two stacked crimson pennants, bordered in navy blue, that grew out of banners once carried by rival branches of the old Rana dynasty. The upper pennant carries a moon, the lower a sun, both simplified to plain geometric shapes since 1962, when the current proportions were fixed by mathematical formula.
What 🇳🇵 means
A double-triangular flag with bases of both isosceles triangles placed against the mast, each designed with a red base, and a navy blue border.
The lower, slightly broader triangle has a white illustration of the sun and the upper, smaller isosceles hosts an upward-facing crescent moon with the same sun (smaller in stature, ofc) rising from the inside of the crescent.
